Menu Planning Monday

Wow, it's been ages since I tried to menu plan.  I had hoped that by planning I could encourage H to choose something once a week for tea.  Instead, every time I ask for 1 suggestion all I get is pie............  so I gave up.  But then I struggled to cook so I am back on the wagon :-)

I am also trying to eat through the freezer a little more - it is a mess again.  No matter how hard I try to keep the freezer in some kind of order, it all eventually goes to pot!

We will be eating;

Mon :- Fish finger wraps with sweet pot fries
Tues :- Veggie Spal Bol & Garlic Bread (am trying soya mince with this one)
Wed :- Jacket Pots and Cheesy Beans/Beans
Thurs :- erm - something.........................
Fri :-Sausage, mash, giant yorkies and veggies
Sat :- Surprise
Sun :- Surprise again

Am hoping I won't need to do a big shop this week - just need to buy 2 baking potatoes and bread I think and all done.  Then I can plan an Internet shop on next week instead.

Menu Planning Monday

Last week's menu went to pot.  With a sick person in the house we/I ate whatever I could grab in the time I had before the sick person needed me again.

H is now feeling much better.  He is tired, but that's cause he was ill for over a week and his MS needs time to recuperate.  He has also stopped the new medication and starts injecting the old medication tonight.

So I am tired (somewhat) and my shopping is not being delivered until Friday but I have plans in place from Friday, so just have to make up a few nights and we'll be done.  I am actually looking forward to cooking - not sure how long that'll last :-)

Monday:- Steak Pie and Mash Potato (on H's request!)  I think Pie needs to be sweet...........
Tuesday:- Fish Cakes and Salad
Wednesday:- Surprise
Thursday:- Fridge Surprise!!!!
Friday:- Chicken in Oyster Sauce with noodles and prawn crackers
Saturday:- Lasagna, garlic bread and pudding.  I have Mum and Dad coming for tea (re-arranged from last week), so looking forward to that.
Sunday:- CHOCOLATE

Menu Planning Monday

Without going into details (as this is a food post) this weekend has not been a good one.  H has started new medication for his MS and the side effects arrived in full force on Friday afternoon.  He managed just under 2 weeks with only slight flushing and then it went wrong.  I think partly this is because he got blasé about how much he was eating - he needs to eat a lot with this medication.

So I have to put great thought into this menu - I need to get the right mix of protein, carbs and fat and since I am not a foodie, I have found it very difficult.  It also has to be easy as I am not a very confident cook :-)

Monday:- Chicken Fried Rice with Prawn Crackers
Tuesday:- Sausages & Mash with Yorkies
Wednesday:- Pasta Bol with garlic bread
Thursday:- Pizza Pita with Salad
Friday:- Fish Finger and Chips
Saturday:- Chicken in Oyster Sauce with noodles
Sunday:- Surprise

Let's hope I have got it right this time and I can then work on expanding my go to recipes.

Menu Panning Monday

I've really struggled this week to come up with the menu.  I think I am getting stuck with the same things time after time.  I also made the mistake of putting in a Morrison's online shop without planning my menu.  Lesson learnt - menu first then shop!

Monday:- Mince and Mashed Potato (I've been trying to make this for H for 18 years - his Mum made this all the time.  Tonight I finally got it right!)

Tuesday:-  Pizza Pita with Salad - I'm making these weekly at the moment but we both love them.

Wednesday:- Cheesy Jackets with Salad - I am hoping that we are finally out of winter and Salads will be on the menu more often.

Thursday:- Fish & Chips - from the freezer- think will make my own fish bites soon.

Friday:-  A friend for lunch, so unsure of tea yet.

Sat:- Chicken Curry - H's request for the week.

Sunday:- Mother's Day - so a roast and all the trimmings for H's Mum and Dad.  Mine are coming down at the end of the month so I will make something special then.

Menu Planning Monday

I have a newly stocked freezer - well mostly and a new spring in my step for menu planning.  I can do anything except toast, as the toaster had flames coming out of it on Saturday.  It was pretty impressive I have to say.

Monday:- Bacon & Cheese Pasta Bake
Tuesday :- I can't think of anything - will keep an eye out when out and about tomorrow!
Wednesday :- Pie!!  Homemade & to be decided (H always wants pie - I may surprise him and make apple!!!!)
Thursday :- Pizza Pitas and chips
Friday :- Chicken Curry
Saturday :- Surprise
Sunday :- Left overs

I have definitely decided that I want to leave Saturdays as free choice.  Then if we want to we can takeaway, or I can decided on the day what to have.  I didn't like not having any free choice within the week.

Menu Planning Monday

This is a funny one this week.  The freezer is newly defrosted and I have no food in it yet.  So I have absolutely no idea what I am going to make this week...........

Monday :- Chicken Fried Rice
Tuesday :- Sausage & Mash & Veggies
Wednesday :- Homemade Fish cakes
Thursday :- Veggie Pasta
Friday :-  I may be out, not sure yet
Saturday :- Surprise
Sunday :- Fry up  - H's choice

Of course, this is pretty flexible as I haven't gone shopping yet :-)

Menu Planning Monday

It is still Monday and I am still planning the menu for the week!  I am already doing better than I did for all of last week!!!  I am still trying to eat out of the freezer as much as possible so I can defrost it.  We're not doing too badly but getting to the stage where I have to buy more frozen bits to make proper meals.  I hate this stage of things.

Anyway, this week I intend to have;

Monday :- Fish & Chips
Tuesday: - Shepherds Pie
Wednesday:- Left over Shepherds Pie (I had enough to make 2!), so veggie pasta off the menu.
Thursday: - Sausage and mash (to use up the yucky sausages)
Friday:- Pizza Pitas
Saturday:- Surprise
Sunday:- I fancy a roast chicken and all the trimmings.

I like leaving one day blank.  A good excuse to use up whatever is left in the fridge, or pop to the shop and do a roast dinner.  Whatever takes our fancy on the day.

Menu Planning Monday

I never thought that I would happily think about menu planning for the week and want to keep it up week after week but I can honestly say that this has really appealed to me and I love everything that planning has allowed me to.  My food budget has been slashed, waste is very little and it actually makes me much happier.

Monday :- Bacon and Tomato Pasta with garlic flatbread

Tuesday :- Fish and chips

Wednesday :- Sausages and mash

Thursday :- tba

Friday : - Steak Birthday night Mk 2.

Saturday :- Stew/Lasagna

Sunday : - Leftovers

Last nights tea was frozen pizza followed by ice cream covered in Haribo.  The first food I have been able to taste in a week, it was lush.

Menu Planning Monday

This was ready to go yesterday but then I came down with the lurgy so it did not get posted.

Monday :- Jacket Pot, cheese and salad

Tuesday :-Sausages and mash

Wednesday :- Fish -

Thursday :-  Veggie Pasta

Friday :- Steak, chips and Onion rings (Birthday tea for H)

Saturday :- Lasagna, Birthday Cake (Birthday tea number 2 for H)

Edited:  It's Tuesday now and I have no idea what we will have for tea as I am currently laid on the sofa under a duvet with the dog curled up next to me feeling very coughy (yes, that is a word!).  I suspect H will order a takeaway.

Menu Planning Monday

Week 2 of the menu keeping wasn't as successful as week 1!  We gave in and had takeaway pizza one night and it threw the rest of the week out of synch.

I desperately need to defreeze the freezer so I am trying my hardest to eat up as much as I can as quickly as I can.

This week we will probably be having;

Monday :- Sausage & Mash (Hubby), Homemade Fishcakes (me)
Tuesday :- Pepperoni Pita Pizzas & Rice Pudding
Wednesday :- Quick & Easy (hosp appt at 4pm) Jacket Pots & filling
Thursday:- Beef Stew
Friday :- Lasagna & Salad
Saturday :- Chicken Salad (friends on diets!)
Sunday :- Left Overs

Menu Planning Monday

Week 2 already and I kinda stuck to the plans last week - Y'ah.  I did end up changing the nights around but we ate as I had planned so I feel pretty good about that.

I am trying to get less meat into our diets so would like to incorporate a fish dish (but cooking fish scares me a little) and a veggie dish each week.  If you have any easy dishes please let me know so I can up my confidence levels in these areas (TYIA).

This week I am planning;

Monday:- Lasagna and garlic bread

Tuesday:- Pita Pizzas and salad

Wednesday:- Burgers and chips and salad

Thursday:- tbd

Friday:- homemade Fishcakes and salad

Saturday:- Something vegetarian!

Sunday:- Chicken and Yorkshire Pudd and veg

Nearly a full week planned, even if the veggie option has to be discovered yet.  I do make a veggie pasta and tomato bake, but do want to increase my options.

Menu Planning Monday

I really struggle with menu planning each week.  I tried to sit down with H every Sunday to plan for the week ahead but he is more hopeless than I am.  I also tend to make the same things over and over and over again.  So when I saw that Angel ome kind of fish dishGem angeljemscitycottage had joined in with menu planning Monday I thought I should give it a go.  I am hoping that it will inspire me and help me gain confidence in trying new recipes.

If you want to join in (if I have gotten this right) I think the original source is Menu planning Monday.  Go and check it out.

So this week we will probably be having;

Monday:- Bacon and cheesy pasta bake with salad
Tuesday:- Chicken curry  Fish and Chips (long day with boiler problems)
Wednesday:- Some kind of fish dish  Pizza and salad
Thursday:- Jacket Potato and filling
Friday:- Frozen Pizza and salad - well I can't be expected to cook every day in week 1 :-) Chicken curry
Saturday:- Birthday tea for Dad - he's 70.
Sunday:- Left Overs - whatever is left in the fridge bunged together - this may change as I gain ideas!!!

Can you tell this is a sudden decision on my part????  I will try and be more organised for next week.

What are you favourite things to cook?  Anything easy I can try?  As a child I used to be a really fussy eater- in fact I loved Christmas as the only veg I liked were brussel sprouts- how odd was I (shush Mum).

Off to find a cook book to get some better ideas, so this week's menu may change.
