Making Baby Blankets

I love crocheting blankets.  I may enjoy crocheting other things but since I love making blankets I haven't even tried much else.

H has 2 cousins who are/were expecting babies this year.  L had baby Charlie at the end of September.  He is such a cutie.  I don't usually pick bright colours but I was desperate to make him a rainbow blanket. 

I think I may have to buy more of the colours and make myself a version of it.  I absolutely love it.

Then M is expecting a little girl in November so I needed to make her a blanket too.  Now M isn't a girlie girl so the colours I picked originally, needed changing somewhat.  I decided to add a blue (I love blue) but all the way through I kept changing my mind whether I liked it or not.  Even now it has been gifted I am not convinced that I like it.  The original colours were the pale pink, purple and grey.  I then went back weeks later and got the blue and when I sat down knew it wasn't right so found the multi in my stash (I have a stash ;-) )

I have learnt a lesson.  Don't choose colours in 3 different sittings.  I wish I had chosen either a less bright blue (it's brighter in real life) or a silver grey.  These things are sent to try us.

Ironically M has decided that this baby is going to start life as a girlie girl and has embraced pink!!!!

My favourite gift ever

Did you all enjoy Christmas?  Ours was quiet & healthy so I am more than happy. After the disasters of the previous 2 years I was not expecting much to be honest.  I am so thankful that the curse has been broken and maybe next year I will re-find my Christmas spirit which was sorely lacking in the lead up to Christmas this year.

Do you remember the present I gave H for his 40th last Jan?

Anni B the first week we got her.  She carried that towel round for weeks - now she's substituted it for a little rabbit from Ikea (we are on version 7 or 8 now, and only have 1 spare - anyone going to Ikea????).  You know when she is happy when she carries the Babbit round and huffs at you :-)

Anyway, I have been dropping hints like a crazy woman that wouldn't it be nice if I had a picture of my first dog Patch.  Then weeks before Christmas H casually asks me for the name of the lady who drew Anni (this despite me leaving her cards EVERYWHERE near where he sits.....).  So it got my hopes up.

Christmas Day arrives and all the presents are given out and there is no picture.  He says Merry Christmas, I say where is my last present.  (How spoilt do I sound???????)  He says you've got them all, I reply No, I haven't (I was thinking, please have asked me for Wendy Halls' name for a reason).

Seriously, he'd looked in his present bag and thought it was empty.  I was not impressed.  I told him to have another look and he "found" another present.  He was being serious, he'd forgotten the most important gift.  (That's a bad sign of MS, his forgets a lot of things).

I cried for a good 5 minutes when I opened her.  This picture is not just a dog, it captures Patch to a T.  I keep staring at it thinking she's about to turn round to look at me.  She is so realistic and I think it's the best present I have ever had (excluding Anni B obviously!)

Advent has started

Whoop, advent has started.  I tried to wait until Hubby was home to open my advent box but I couldn't wait.  I have one this year and I am really looking forward to the next 24 (well 23 now) days.

I may have cheated and found number 1 before the big day....... Shush, but don't worry the creator of this box doesn't follow my blog :-) See it there, the little white one??

On another note, I was slightly late in getting box number 4 out to my friend C.  So I took the decision to post the first 4 days to her (H will deliver the rest tomorrow).  Now, although I can't tell you what the 4 gifts are, they were so little and light I was shocked to find that postage cost me £1.71 and the PO wonder why people are no longer sending so much post......
